We are pleased to offer this extremely rare original Royal parade uniform of soldier of the Leibguard Convoy of His Royal Majesty. It's among the most beautiful uniforms of Bulgarian army ever and remains the most wanted collectible piece.
The Royal convoy was founded in 1879, when on July 12 the guards escorted Knyaz Alexander I for the first time. Throughout the years the structure of the guards has changed from convoy to squadron, regiment and after 1942 -division. But the uniform model and appearance retained almost the same.  Most probably the uniform we offer was worn in 1930s at the time of King Boris III.

There are oblong buttons on the front of the tunic. The lining is of white cotton, bearing visible producer stamp  :

    General information:
The uniform of Bulgarian Prince’s convoy (later the Leibguardian Mounted Regiment of H. R.H. His Royal Majesty) is one of the most gorgeous and beautiful military uniforms of the late 19th c. It was introduced by a decree from 1879. Prince (Knyaz) Alexander Ist Battenberg him self determined the smallest details of this elegant dress. The Prince wanted the uniform to looks like those of the Grodno hussars (green dolman, crimson pants). Later it was decided for a white braided dolman in dark red color and pants in turquoise blue, grey fur cap decorated with badge in the form of St. Alexander order and surmounted by an eagle feather. The uniform model was first tailored by master tailor from Berlin.
At the same beginning Bulgarian army was strongly influenced by Russia. Therefore, by Russian model the Guardian unit was called “Leib Konvoi” Mounted Convoy of his Majesty. Later its name changed to “Leibgvardejski na NV Konen Polk”  Leibguardian Mounted Regiment of H. R.H. After 1942 it’s already a division.
The Bulgarian Prince’s convoy was founded in 1879, when on July 12 the guards escorted the Bulgarian knyaz for the first time. That's why 12 July is the official holiday of the National guards unit.  Their mission is not only representing the military traditions and rituals, but also to be center for their revival and enrichment in order to preserve and approve the national identity. The National Guards Unit has its own war flag, seal, insignia and uniform. The Guards' uniform was created in 1883 and includes elements of Bulgarian national traditions and symbols.
