The Underwood  Company was established in 1897.  This antique number 5 model Typewriter was made in 1923 with 4 rows of keys and types 84 characters. The number 5  design is the most successful typewriter design in history and was the quintessential Underwood. Millions of these machines were used for the first half of the twentieth century.
